Nasco offers its customers innovative alternatives in acquiring new wheel and brake designs, putting it in the forefront of changing the way new wheel and brake systems will be purchased by the Department of Defense and commercial aircraft manufacturers. One successful alternative is Nasco's fixed-price design, development and production contract that includes re-procurement data rights. Under this plan, customers pay the development costs up front but reap the long-term benefits of lower cost spare parts through competitive sourcing. This plan was incorporated in a U.S. Air Force contract with Nasco for the design, development, and manufacture of new heavy-duty wheels and brakes for the T-38, including retrofit of the Air Force and NASA fleets.
